We provide standard-aligned curricula for Kindergarten through 12th grade, leveraging small class sizes, social-emotional learning (SEL), and inquiry-based and hands-on learning. Small class size is a keystone of the Metro experience, with average class size of 7 students. We provide rigorous, individualized instruction that complements the therapeutic and clinical services many students receive. Our experienced and dedicated faculty understand how to recognize and cultivate each student’s talents and abilities so they can achieve their lifelong goals.

Academic Approach

Our commitment to supporting the diverse needs of our students while maintaining high expectations means that our students influence class offerings and schedules. For example, we focus on creating opportunities throughout the year for students to learn about the world through being a part of it. Whether through conducting an experiment in science, role-playing in Social Studies, or creating a business plan for a lemonade stand in math, understanding the “why” drives what we do in the classroom and informs what we learn.

Effective learning extends beyond the classroom. We bring in experts, embark on field trips, lead weekly clubs, and pilot new programs that enrich and integrate learning in authentic contexts.
